    I have an old Pecar Berlin 4x81 Light. I emailed the factory with the serial number back in the 90"s and they said the date of manufacture was 1961. One piece steel tube and got the super fine reticle. Glass is in good nick but body is a bit rough. Unfortunately it's 26mm tube from memory. It's an option anyway.

    Thanks @Hewie the rifle has 25mm swing off mounts that could be honed/reamed out I suppose but I'd rather not.
    I've PM'd you my number if you could send me some pic's just in case

    Cheers

    I have stored away a Zenith 1-4 steel scope with an A4 type reticle, made I believe by one of the German company's for the Swedish market. I don't think I'll ever use it.

    I have an early (60's I think) Kahles helia vari power. Steel and brass tube. Fine crosshairs. 26mm tube and matching Buehler bases and rings to suit "60 series Schultz and Larsens. Well used but very clear optics.

    @Husky1600 @Woody
    Are there really 1" (25.4mm) and 26mm scopes/rings?
    Check out this statement,
    "Original and almost mint narrow screw centres bases and matching swing off, quick detachable one inch / 26mm scope rings to fit the older style Mannlicher / Schoenauer and Steyr type Austrian / German rifles."

    Try putting a 1" tube scope in 26mm rings and see what happens when the rifle recoils. It's not happy stuff.

    I know what your saying but I've seen several European posts with rings for sale that state 1"/26mm so a little confused!
    Maybe you can get away with a 26mm scope in 1" rings!?

    Would'nt know mate. Perhaps the modern ones have more spring / give in them. 10 thou packers are too fiddly too.

    There definitely are 1" rings, and 26mm rings - bloody European's making things difficult. But I've yet to see a set of rings that would correctly fit both. You will often find an older rifle that has a Kahles, or Pecar, or Nickel, or Hertel and Reuss scope with a 26mm tube that has been mounted using 1" rings, remove or move the rings and you will find noticeable squashing of the tube.

    I think I could hone the the rings .020+" easily enough so I'm open to your/any period scope options!
