    Pack

Aarn Mountain Magic 44. Older model, but still in good condition. Here's the blurb about the latest version: https://www.aarnpacks.com/mountain-magic

Two pouches at the front balance the load, bringing your centre of gravity forward. Do a google image search to get the idea.

Do you mean how do some people get by with a flour sack? Some of us still use something similar.

and they used to send kids down the coal mines too, but times have changed.....

I was made to do the coal sack thing as a kid, I think it was his way of toughening me up, then I saw his cullers photos and 50's photos from Fiordland with framed packs.....I chucked it in the dead hole and burnt the POS.

    Horses for courses though.
Some companies make very successful day packs based on the basic sugar bag pikau.
