I am also looking for a pack in that size range. I am keen on the Hunters Element Contour Pack (25L) at the moment. Will follow the thread and see what info we can get out of it.

Plastic bags it is then! ;-)

Zips are noisy. But you can put tape or silicone or something on them, then they won't be noisy...

The Kuiu has a frame which allows a space between it and the bag. This can be expanded to create a pocket for heavy loads like a pile of meat. No zips and it is carried close to you back for strength.

Use it for weekend trips in summer as my main pack and it acts as my day bag when hunting the Southern Alps. Works great, comfortable to wear and can take seriously heavy loads easily.

For bush hunting and regular day use I have used a Stoney Creek 2 in 1 day pack for the past 7 years, works well enough, packs down to nothing and is really low profile so good for bush bashing.
