    Parker hale 308

Ive been reading to many old deer culler books and fallen for the idea of an older rifle,
ive had a play with a few and found i really like parker hales they feel nice in the hand well balanced and point well
So As per title im wanting a Parker hale 308, around the 450 500 dollar Mark, ive seen a nice example at hamils tauranga but @ $600 for a bog standard version it's a bit Much,

Any input or advice or guns to look out for would be appreciated,
    Thanks in advance terry

Yeah man that'd be great if you could!
More deer have been taken with these and 303s than anything else, i figure my chances can only go up if at least the gun knows what its doing ...
    Haha

My father has a Parker Hale Safari 308 he never uses and has talked about selling. Not in the flashest condition, and only has open sights - and the rear one moves side to side!
It has fired bugger all shots in the last 27 or so years, I'd have to have a look at the bore to see what it's like. I was there Fri last week until Tuesday this week, pity you didn't post a week ago. I'll be back down there on Xmas day if you want me to have a look.

Fantastic I'd love to see it!!!!!
I'm real keen to buy a gun that someone has loved and had some awesome adventures with! I'd like the owner to know that I'd take said gun on many more adventures and eventually in the distant future pass it on to someone who will love it as much we had.
Slightly Soppy I know but I like buying timeless quality that will outlast me

As someone who has re-barreled and re-furbished a few, the stocks tend to have dried and need to have any varnished removed and soaked in multiple coats of danish oil. The action will need to bedded correctly as they arn't the best from day one. Weaver mounts are avaliable from most good shops, great old guns.

Why a parker hale most of the ones ive played with don’t shoot the best
But good enough to do the job in the bush
Id be looking at bsa hunters and majestics myself for something older with a good following in New Zealand hunter circles back in the day
If you get a good one they shoot awsome

I've had a few and like most commercial mausers shoot very well with a bit of tinkering, as do all rifles, the adjustable triggers are as good as any for hunting purposes and replacement barrels in a multitude of calibre are easily found good luck on finding a good 'un.

Thanks for that I'll have a look into them,
Im going for parker hale because when I picked up the gun it just felt right.
Also bsa's seem to be really hard to find!
