that trap with the push bar doors look the go no trip needed and if not to far from the house one of those remote security video cameras so you could just flick on a computer or tv to view would make it easy to check without disturbing it and spreading your scent around.with water and shelter you could leave them in for a few days to calm down and maybe bring a few more into trap.

Gadgetman - has VERY kindly offered to bring up Silo Mesh from Canterbury
I would like to cut its height in half (so be 1.2m)
He says best left full height (2.4) - but that is going to be very difficult to man handle and find a location to erect.

They say in the Aussie and Yank reports that 1.5m is OK - only very occasionally one will 1 get out - I reckon I could get away with these pigs here as not many are over 80lb size and with the Camera set up I will be able to approach knowing one is in and take shot without disturbing to much (might get the odd bullet deflect from 4mm wire but

So do the 6/9 configuration or the heart shape - and if its not successful - yes the one you mentioned - I can still use the cut down mesh to cover a pre-welded frame and have the spring angled door.
Just be extra cost getting frame made and the box steel tubing - keep it to 2.4x1.2 size or maybe 3.6x1.2

Anyone I know well who is what I would call an actual pig hunter vs a dog follower would either shoot or rehome any of their dogs for chasing anything other than a pig.

You are right tho the heat is a real problem this time of year....short early morning hunts or nighttime on the moon....even then it can be hard on the dogs.

This could be a long shot and don't know how realistic it is as I came across it in the Barry crump book "a good keen man". The idea is too feed the pigs potatoes for a few nights in a row and then place out more the next night with detonators in them, and then piggy chomps down on detonator and boom no piggy.
But not sure if it's just a tall tale or a legit method that they used to use back in the un-pc good old days

As I said above - the Det in the Spud might be a fable - and come to think of it it was Barry Crump that it might have come from so its more than likely 99% sure to be a tale
