Property WTB Stewart island or Haast area

Hi all, I am in the market for a crib or bare land on Stewart island or in Haast, preferably a bush block. Not much on TM so I thought I would see if anyone here may know someone who is thinking about selling.
    Thanks G

    @223nut
    For advice on the island

Plenty of sections available there that aren't on the market.
Lots listed for big $ with services and views in the best locations

I have done some building down on the island and there are some opportunities to buy somewhere out of the way and build a modest crib.
Getting gear over there is easy but you are never sure what it's going to cost for freight.
Off grid is easy now with solar and led.

I have been watching in Haast region for 3 years now - very few options come up
Have a mate there - will ask him for an update.

As has been said, I'd be looking at somewhere off grid, (don't quote me) but pretty sure it's $90/month connection and around 70c/kWh. I think your section needs to be over x ha to have a disposal field for sewage but pretty sure you could get away wih a compost one of some sort.

Prefab would be the way to go, remember any contractors you would use get here at Mon lunch and leave fri morning.... Thenn you have to pay food accomodation and travel costs..

Yeah, just lost the one building firm living on the island, sparky left last year still have a plumber, 2 building outfits commute from town and are flat out.

Not many places left in nz where you can get paua on the way home without getting your shorts wet then have deer running round the back yard for the evening

Thats where the difference in pay rates is made up for.... We charge more in Auckland to compensate for living with Aucklanders.

I have been eying Haast for a while now...
    Been collecting trade quality tools.
Eying up either a A frame or a shipping container home for ease of construction.
Composting toilet, solar power, wood fire with a wetback, trick is small enough to be doable but big enough to be comfortable, and nice enough to get the missus in as well...

I have built a couple of tiny homes
Specialise in prefab building and do consultancy for that
Up to speed on solar and composting toilets etc

Have done 2 DoC huts in the last 5 years

Looked at Stewart Island to buy sections and do one small spec house per summer as a working holiday .... But just how much blue cod can you eat ?

I can build better cheaper SIP crib than you could do with a container and A frames don't have a lot of storage space due to the angles and tricky with bunks etc

have a look on t/me under cheaper than kiwibuild .outfit has kitset houses all included stuff like carpet oven gas hot water unit for the smaller ones and easy build comes in a container for a better option for keeping the other half happy. nice 100 acre block with large bunkhouse at orepuki I can look after for anyone that wants to buy it missus didn't think it was a good thing for me to buy when we sell the house.
