    Radar Detector

I am not a speeder - but sometimes I miss a speed change sign - particularly on SH2 towards Auckland or sometimes when towing a trailer
A dickhead got me for 96km/h towing an unloaded tandem trailer behind my Landcruiser
I had one for years but it died of old age - time to get another one

i just gave my old one away having brought back a new one from the usa.
i bought a "cobra" brand having heard good things, to be honest apart from not telling direction of signal it has as much range as the valentine one i recently repaired.
payed $170 u.s from best buy, see if you can import one. well worth the money

I've got a valentine somewhere. Apparently it needs a service. But I don't think they can service them in nz. If you can find a use for it you can have it cheap.

one word of caution re valentines, they are great detectors but dont use an aftermarket cord unless you check it first. they use the same plug as a telephone handset but the center 2 conductors are reversed from one end of the lead to the other. if you use a handset cord you will reverse the polarity of the power and the smoke will fall out. apart from that they are great units.
