    Rifle, canterbury

    Im after a stand in rifle I can bash around for a bit while I have project rifles on the go. Something in chch or canterbury would be ideal as wanna get it up and running asap. Prefer something non magnum but 6mm minimum and max budget about $1300 cheers

    @Savage1 has a 270 or 30/30 that may suit.

    Ruger M77 6mm REM wood stock

    and there's a Bettinsoli U/o 28inch trap bores like new outside need a tidy up some blueing gone. if anybody else is interested

    All optics are shite but bores look good usual marks on hunting rifles

    Just man up and use this time to learn how to snare deer and/or catch them with your bare hands.

    @Ryan_Songhurst how does a Remmy Mod 7 CDL in 260 sound? Wood blue, low Talleys. Currently away at gunsmith getting a weak mainspring replaced and barrel threaded.

    Talking about restocking - what stock would fit a BSA Featherweight 270 (ex 7x57 re barreled I imagine)
    I have one that has had its stock cracked at pistol grip
    Been pinned and fixed good - but if one was to fall onto it hard, it could break in half

    Ive got a Marlin XS7 in 7mm-08 here that i'd happily sell you for $1300 ;-), in fact less than half of that would do. Was my first centrefire rifle, shot my first 20 odd deer with it.

    You're welcome to grab anything out of my safe to thrash about. Zastava 7mmRM with set trigger or Savage 243 Win probably the best options.

    A Monarch stock of the same action length is the only possibility.
