Rifle transport Dunedin to Wellington, Wild shot !

I remember a few month back @Magnus was talking to me about dramas he had getting a rifle from Dunedin to Wellington. Well, i'm in the same boat.
Apparently Hunting and fishing does it for $50. I called the lower hutt shop and the guy seems a bit reluctant to receive it for me. My gunsmith does it in the dealer's network for me for $20. when I sent one last week to CHCH.
is there no Smith that would do it down there?

I'll just go with Hunting and Fishing if there is no other choice.
But rather spend $50 on buying some GC a good dozen.

    let me know.

https://www.spartnzcerakote.nz/ are the Dunedin contact for the network, problem I had was he was having shoulder surgery or something that took him out of service so wasn't able to help. H&F don't even bother with them at this end they are a bunch of cunts, the Dunedin shop was ok and happy to send but the Lower Hutt pricks just more or less laughed at me. Hopefully someone on here can help. NZ Post still don't mind sending axles and steering rack though

The Gunshop in Upper Hutt is part of the network.
I think Gun City in Wellington is also, but not 100% on that.

Not sure if either charge to receive as I've heard some places are doing that.

frk, the problem is at Dunedin end, not many are working there for the gun owners. Wellington has plenty GCs to send and receive things.
I thank you guys for the information and will try and call Elio and Spartnz for a chat and see.

I still can't believe how fuked up NZ post is. Charge international courier fee then pulls out when it is landed in Auckland. No refund of courier fees and not providing any service they charged for or help in anyway. Fuck them.

    Most do apparently

My local says he charges $50 for his time doing the paperwork and courier costs
But he said that the Receiving shop will charge another $30-50
So he said it could well cost $80-$100 to ship a rifle

It’s going to end up like oz where it has to be dealer to dealer and costs a packet

@lee308 did you manage to sort this yet? How soon do you need/want it? I've just booked flights up from Dunedin to Welly on the morning of the 21st. I've already got 2 checked in bags as I'm bringing up a bunch of my own gear, but if you don't mind paying for a third bag I'd be happy to bring it up for you. Cost of a third checked bag on AirNZ is $55, so possibly not your cheapest option, but would save you mucking around with paperwork. Flick me a PM if you want to discuss it further.

What did it cost in the end, I’m taking a rifle down to Christchurch on Jetstar. I have to pay for an extra bag $21.00 and they want a further $45.00 if it’s over 1m long so the dealer net work isn’t much more? I’m splitting the action and the stock so shouldn’t need the extra oversized cost. But I’ll need to make a lockable box.
