I'm seriously having to sit my hands at the moment, as I already have a Hawkeye 223.
However mine is only a blued wood 1-12.
Really am tempted but. Very accurate rifles.
If you can just be yourself,
    You can be anything.

Close, but not exactly what I'm after. The Ruger American (while cheap and nasty) has an alloy bedding block, which will let me take the rifle apart and put it back together without losing zero.

This is a cool rifle though. Robust action. Free bump!

Strong - reliable - think you could use it to club something to death if ran out of bullets

My neighbor has same as this - he is 80 and has shot 100's
He always say I need to get 223 and gives me shit when I hang one up shoulder shot - as he always neck shoots (we have a joint gallows for hanging and fly protection)

Sarvo...maybe the old boy is correct and this is your chance to grab one...... the humble wee .223 is just so much fun to shoot and punches well above its weight when you give it suitable loads for targeted game.

I used the 223 in Mini14 and brief stint AR15 - diff scenario I know
Was thinking of going back to one for the Thermion and using it on vermin and Deer/Pig control with SUP
But have set up the Baikal 7.63x39 to shoot SUB's and 150g factory
Be fine for my close shooting

223 needs to be in good hands – well steady hands anyway
That neighbour shoots on 9x all the time (has 3-9 Leupi VXII)
    Not bad for 80 ah

you are right about both..... love the .223 but up close the x39 has a little more room for error....same with bigger animals.
always had soft spot for the ruger canoe paddle stocks...they look really sharp with the different coloured ones in place...funny how Tikka have finnaly caught on to same thing.
