Easier to just get the A-Cat S&W M&P 15-22 and get it changed to an endorsed E-Cat firearm.

Or you can get the dedicated CMMG upper, either complete (from Target Sports) or build it with your choice of stripped upper and handguard (from NZAR15) and run it on an E-cat lower.

    Here's mine.

Except you can get the entire M&P cheaper than the cmmg upper

True, but do you prefer a complete plastic receiver and handguard rifle with extremely limited interchange/upgrade of parts (grip and stock only), or an all metal receiver rifle with standard AR part compatibility, including ability to have the upper on various A-Cat or E-Cat lowers. It's a no brainer for me.

It's not really about cost(and if it is do some import permits and bring the parts in from brownells) but you can run the same lower you run in competition with a more similar weight so it's better for training plus you can just have the one lower on e cat as opposed to multiple e registered guns (may not worry you but something I try to do in case we go the way of australia) also dogmatix's points on parts is huge, very handy for upgrades.

Not bad for a cheap option, mine was reliable but not good for accuracy out of a 223 barrel.

My conversion kit functions fine and is accurate also.
It can be hit and miss from what I've heard.
I guess I was lucky and got a good one.

@ACMYK now that you have the rifle, go out and have fun shooting it.
CCI Standard ammo seems to be the go to ammo for nearly every .22LR AR rifle. Mine loves it.
