If you are really stuck, get a Howa mini in .223 and plough some $ into souping it up.

Put it in a bedded wooden or synthetic stock, flush fit mag kit and Timney trigger if you don't like a two stage.

Then you have a modern equivalent of the L461/A1, the Howa is a close copy of the old Sako.

That’s some good advice. I have a vixen L461 but have done as above got a barrelled action then sent it up to Ken Henderson for one of his stocks and a flush metal bottom and love it shoots 65gr sierra spbt in to .5” or less

What a looker!

My L461 .223 Rem (a re-chambered rifle done poorly- short chambered so even factory rounds won't close!- sold to me as original, I obviously noticed before firing it and sent it back to the dealer).

Been getting all sorts of excuses from no reamer, we are ordering in, to - wrong reamer, they sent us a .243 Win one... what next? We are making a time machine to get your rifle back to original condition?

Tempted to tell them to stuff it and get my money back to build a Howa Mini .223 like yours... something special about the Sako's though... will wait till next year but I paid for the rifle in September!

Hi, I have L461 in the safe. It’s in.222 and I had it rebarreled. It’s got optilock rings and a gloss VX1. I was trying to keep the look of the era it’s from. PM if interested.

Your not getting mine either sorry, it’s my Everyday shooter;-) love it, like everyone else it seems.

I’ve got a friends grey wolf 85 that he wants to move on, but no bolt. Bolt is supposed to be coming from USA.... one day. Pretty mint rifle though.

Anybody know if the howa mini fits easily into an A1 stock?

Anything will fit with a Dremel and a large tin of bog

Looked into it other way around. Action screw spacing greater on the Howa than Sako, not an easy switch unless you give it to Bruce

Yeah the action screw spacing on the howa mini is the same a short action rem 700
Quite long for how short the action is

Boyds sell stocks for Howa Mini Actions now... might be hard to get for you but at least it's an option.

It's a sako stock I need an action to fit it.
