Sako Vixen L461 in .222 Remington

This is my Sako Vixen, it is a 1966 vintage rifle, and in excellent condition.

The bore is excellent, shiny and sharp, and she will shoot well with nearly any combination, and will put 5 rounds under an inch with nearly any bullet. Trigger is excellent.
Condition is excellent as well, stock has very few minor handling marks, and the blueing is nearly 100% except for the bolt handle and an area where the rear sight used to be.
She is just like she came from the factory except someone took the rear sight off. (Still has the front sight) I have a replacement rear sight that can come with the rifle. I believe the rifle was imported from Sweden only a couple of years ago, and has lived a sheltered life in Scandinavia shooting foxes before it came to NZ.

(The only marr on the rifle is where someone electroprencilled some kind of drop sheet into the metal just in front of the receiver, but its unobtrusive and soon forgotten.)

The rifle comes with the Leupold scope rings on it, (but not the scope pictured, although if you need one we can talk)

I am looking for $1725.00 which includes freight.

Beautiful rifle the Sako Vixen, bought same model when in the Forest Service for goat control, super accurate and nice to carry on those long days on the hill. Good luck with your sale.

So discombobulating........ just what I need to fill a void in my safe... but when I open my wallet , only a driver licence, gun licence and some moths(which flew away) so I don't even have those anymore

Given the fine condition that Vixen is in, that's a bargain price.

Here is a shot of it. I have deliberately made this catch the light so it is exaggerated. Note that there is another marking just under the serial number, which is something in Swedish.

Just looking at the rifle overall when taking the photo, the blueing is probably more like 90%, it has lost some from under the trigger guard and a touch from the floorplate as well. But I would class the rifle overall in excellent condition apart from the electropencil marks

I'm tempted to buy it & sell my one as this looks in better condition.

Being laid up is a very dangerous. Too much time for cruising on the internet and looking at new toys.

I hope that you are mending and out of the worst of the pain zone.

    Cheers

It's on Trademe now (with a higher price just to cover the TM fees) but for forum members this price here still applies for anyone considering it.

There are more photos on the TM auction.

When I first saw that there was no rear sight for the rifle I was thinking that the one I sent to you didnt arrive
