    Scope 3-12ish loopy, swaro, zeiss

Ok having missed or on 3 scope recently......

Looking for a new scope for the 308, around the 2-3 up to 12-15 ish without big turrets.

Currently have a vx3 with a cluttered rectical and target turrets. Would like to go up a level in glass so vx5-6 swaro or Zeiss could go vortex (happy with a set of their binos). Not too worried about weight as its in a chassis anyway.

    Ideally $1000-1200 budget

Always had 1/4moa clicks so it's what my brain works in.... Would prefer better glass than Bushnell, got a couple and they are ok for the money but want to get one 'good' scope.

Not too worried about cosmetic scratches or by,ps as long as no problems with function.

My budget is prob a bit on the low side.... But there have been some good deals on here latly

I know it is not on your list but I have just purchased a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16 x50 with a plex reticule. I can not say enough good things about it. Got it from scopeout nz and it was a bargin (under $500) Zero resetable turrets and amazing glass.

That's a damn good deal, will have a look into them, how does the glass in Nikon compare to others? Will be doing a lot of low light shooting in the evenings. 80% of issues will be under 200m but will be used in Canterbury high country out to.... How far is a 308 effective?? 350ish

I am no expert, but the reviews of the Monarch's were all very positive. Low light seem to be very good and Nikon are leaders in optics in general. I was expecting to have to buy new rings as the old scope was a 40mm objective were as the new was 50mm. However the scope is quite a bit longer and sits well forward over the barrel taper. I am running mine on a Howa 6.5 Creedmoor so very similar to the 308 out to 400yd. Eye relief is good at 4" and a nice non-complicated reticle.

Will be going on a t3 in a Dpt chassis, currently have 30mm optilocks and 6-7mm clearance (just guessing as I don't have it in front of me)

Will see what else pops up but could well be a contender, cheers rossiwiz
