I have used a 7mmSAUM all around the world for close to 14 years guiding/hunting now after picking up a cheap custom shop Mod 7 S/H, l have shot a lot of game with it & it is on its second barrel , is my favorite LR tahr & chammy gun (what l mainly hunt now) & l have taken them out to 735yrds with it .
IMO you are over scoping, but each to their own but in case you would reconsider there is an absolute bargain Leupold mk4 4-14x50 on here at the moment ,what l have run for years now on mine, after swapping out the -S&B PMII Ultrashort 5-20x50 it came with after hunting with it for a couple of years ,l would be grabbing it quick ,all the magnification for hunting with a 7mmSAUM you need IMO .No connection to sale ,just a bargain

Vx5 maybe? Or keeping it lightweight assuming it is a z5? Tough one so many options

I have a leupold 4.5x14-40 cds .If i was hunting South Island exclusively i would probably stay with that, but 3.5-10x40 or a vx5 2.5-10-40 is more than enough for all my north island hunting.

With a zero a 170m I can dial up to 650 m on a single turn. More than enough for my capabilities.

    I have a z6i 2.5-15x44 - personally I think this a perfect allround magnification for alpine & bush hunting

    What's your budget?
Have you had a look at the Burris signature 3-15.
Light and have all the bells and whistles.
Will definitely be my next scope

Wouldn’t recommend Burris as it doesn’t match the clarity of others

Was thinking somthing not too light... prob 3-14@44 to be honest. Or similar, pref a name brand with lifetime warranty, and pref a 30mm tube.

You used the signature HD? I have the 2-10 and it blows the vx3i away for less money
