Thread: Second hand rifle

Hi guys,
Have a mate whose pretty keen on getting into hunting. He's looking for his first rifle looking for a nice second hand entry level rifle. All offers will be considered and I will put them through to him to see whether or not he likes it. His budget is $900 ish would prefer something with a scope but will consider ones without for the right price.

depending what your shooting situation is ive got a bushranger 7.62x39 with scope for $300.00 can give more details if interested or an m96 on tm is a good cheap starter i just got a friend into hunting he went and spent heaps on a couple of hunting rifles only to find he doesnt really like killing things so a cheapy might be a good idea if hes not totally sure

Thank you for your offer but he's looking for something with a little more reach as he hunts a lot of open country. I would like to specify that Calibre he's after but there's quite a lot of different ones he's keen on and a lot he's not so it'd be quite a big list. Your interest is appreciated though

Got a savage 2506 I'm looking at getting rid of. Gets no use

I have a NEW 7mmRemMag Zastava with a wooden stock here in Chch for $900. Been in storage since the earthquakes and I even considered buying it myself. (It is still shop stock) Also have one in 270 here, also new in the same with a synthetic stock. Both will come with warranty etc.

Otherwise, the post mentioning the M96 6x5x55 would also be a great rifle. It is the same calibre that I used to hunt with and there is not much in NZ that it is not suited for. (not really suited for rabbits and possums or cattle....) They usually go for around $500 so a decent scope is still under budget....
