    Smith & Wesson .500

After a Smith and Wesson .500 S&W revolver, X-frame. Seeing what's out there before I go new. I've used one, liked it. Now I want one. For on B cat endorsement.

You never know what people have, I know a guy with a .577 Boxer Revolver, doesn't have the power of a .500 S&W how ever !

There's a chap in the otago pistol club with one, I don't have his details but maybe enquire through the club in case he's thought of selling?

I know a guy with a 45-70 revolver. The 500 is not too bad to shoot, definitely not as extreme as the YouTube videos would have you believe

Yea they're not bad. All the BS about broken wrists etc. is a load of shit. Wouldn't want to fire it all day, but that's merely due to the cost of ammo.

Been a few sold in NZ and most of the ammo is out of stock, so worth a try?

I bought a bunch of cases as I was going to make one up on a single shot rifle & I'm still looking for a H&R in .500 S&W, never seen a second hand one for sale ?

My opinion but the big 500 S&W is OK but the bees knees is the 454 Casull in the original Freedom Arms SA. I reckon the Casull is all over it with the benefit you can plink using 45 Colt (make sure you clean the cylinders between calibres though)

Howdy, I have a 500 x frame, 8.5 inch and a xvr 460. 8.5 inch prefer the 460. probably same power/recoil with full house loads. 460 case holds more powder, eg 200 grn ftx = 49 grns 296 win. bt 2300 fps. 500 with 350 grn = 42 og 296. both exciting to shoot, 460 is louder. and alot more accurate, cheaper proj as well. big advantage is can shoot 460 at pistol ranges that are limited to 45 cal, also shoots 454 cas and for the miss,s 45 colt!! other than ego factor I,de def go for a 460. flat as shooting to 200 mtrs with lighter proj. They both are awesome. Good luck, george

Be keen to try a 460.
Ended up getting a new .500s&w, shitload of fun, makes the old .50AE deagle seem like a toy in comparison. Hornady 500gr xtp are 'interesting' to say the least.
