What are you trying to do? Rip a barrel off a receiver?

Yeah trying to get the barrel off and looks like you need a vice clamp, everywhere is out of stock by the looks and only other option is ebay but likely a $350-$400 to the door which I want to try avoid

Has the barrel been off before or is it the original (same number and dates codes?). Some of those don't come off that easy without destroying something...

Not sure where this story came from that SMLE barrels are hard to detach, I have removed many tens of, maybe hundreds & never had a major problem removing them ?

Now the P14 Enfield might be a different story, only done a couple of them ?

I'll tentatively give it a go and see what happens, cheers for the advise.

@NZPureLamb you need a barrel vise with the right bushes & the action tool for the front ring, just like most rifles !

If you aren't doing a lot of them, rather than buy the tools & learn how to do it, you will need to take the rifle to a Gunsmith but he shouldn't find it hard to do !

I have seen last week three NoI MKI (1904 1907 & 1910) wrecked by a "Gunsmith/Armourer," two actions ground on both sides to free barrels & the other twisted, how I don't know, I think he stuck something in the open action to crank on ?

I removed two other barrels for the chap & tried to straighten the action as best I could !

I have seen tens of actions & rifles with pipe wrench/vise marks on them, I bought a nice sporter barrel for one of my Lee Speeds a Westley Richards barrel & the dick who removed that left vise marks on it, that took me half a day to repair, worse he charged the owner of the barrel $90 to damage, I mean remove it !
