    Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer M72 .270

Same old story, need to move something out before I can move another in...

Absolute classic .270 Steyr Mannlicher Schoenauer M72 fully wooded stock... but fully floating barrel. Cunning construction to achieve that.
They only made these for 2-3 years.
These come with a Fixed floor plate magazine but the little lever on RHS of mag box that lets you empty the whole mag out through the top without working the action.
Usual double set trigger of this era. Front is normal trigger, pull the back one and it "sets" the front into a very light hair trigger. You either love 'em, hate 'em, or haven't come across it yet. When you know how to use them, they make for very accurate shooting... although this is intended more as a carbine and not your long range shooter.

    $2600 in Nelson/Tasman region
Couriers are posing the usual problem but I'm sure we will figure out something on this forum. I'm heading over to Wellington/Kapiti region on Wednesday and can bring it with me if you're a buyer from over that way.
Will even throw in in some original quick detach, removable 30mm rings. .

Bloody lovely. Very rare front locker action. Wouldn't think there would be many M72's around like this one.

This has attracted lots of drooling and PM's... but either too late for some (they bought another recently) or they are a bit broke at the moment (like most of us when something good turns up)!

Anyone want to back up the affection and close a deal before it heads to that great yellow beast. Happy to hold and drip feed to known good buggers.

    I have a few FS's MC,MCA,S,L,M,CL,CL2 so have a couple of questions,
How do you find the wing safety as it's unusual for a Steyr?
Its a blind mag but is the floor plate part of the blind mag or just attached to the wooden stock (does this make sense?)
Is the trigger guard plastic as per S,L,M or metal?

    Cheers

Sounds like I should come and have a look at your collection - anything in 7x64?

I bought this last year when I came across it and knew they had a connection with rocking horse poo. Apart from a few shots over the open sights with a mate it just went in the safe while I looked around for a suitable 30mm scope.

Just fiddling with it, the safety that is... it is surprisingly easy to use but push it too quick and it makes a small click. Animal would have to be within 20m to hear it but that is not hard in tight bush.

I'll pull it out of the safe and try to figure out your floor plate/mag question. Trigger guard is all metal. I think my Mod L is metal trigger guard too (synthetic mag) but will check it while I am in the safe too.

    Cheers

    @JustKiddin I have a CZ fs in 7x64 but not a Mannlicher.
The floor plate/mag will be interesting!

    Cheers

Yep, it is a rotary mag. Fixed floor plate but a rotary all the same. That will be why it is able to spew them all out the top without working the action when you push the little release lever.
