Cant tell you the hardness of this cast of 25cal but was using 14-16gr of 2400 behind gas checks, with some rather promising results i will go do a count and weight of the projectiles.

I do have the ability to cast to varying levels of hardness, to a point!

59 91gr flat nose Wheel weight air cooled
54 91gr Flat nose Wheel weight , (bit of solder added) air cooled
47 116 gr HP ( these take longer to make but well worth it!)
86 122gr Flat nose Wheel weight air cooled sized with gas checked & using beaver grease lube

they are somewhat labour intensive as the mold produces 1 x 85gr Fn 2x 120gr Fn 1 x117 Hp at a time so making any volume can be time consuming! but open to offers!

I also have a good selection of 30cal!

All are air cooled either wheel weight or 20-1
Most are single cavity molds though so are a little labour intensive
I size at around .314 with alox or I can lube size with beaver grease at .314 or leave at the cast size of up to 316, ive even a mold for those with rare tight bores at .312

    i even found 45cal!

    Tertle

How much for the 25cal 86gr projectile?

Are they sized, lubed and gaschecked?

I have been keen to get a hold of some and try them in my 1892 Winchester 25-20.

    Cheers
    Pete

    Scouser,

Size, well it says OS on the tag however im 5'8" and 95kg and its fine, its missing 3 buttons one on the chest, not an issue really as its got a zip, one top left pocket and on the cuff on the right sleeve. (or vise versa!)

Its in good condition and last year was washed with some fancy hunting wash , it was for removing UV stuff and improving the water proofing, i think i used it for around the batch am maybe once out on the lake at duck season? Its not seen a lot of use from me!

It has the zip for the hood, but no hood. The zip on the front had come away, but the ex wife stiched it all up good and proper.

    Pete,

    it should have read
59 x 91gr flat nose Wheel weight air cooled
54 x 91gr Flat nose Wheel weight , (a little bit of solder added) air cooled
47 x 116 gr HP ( these take longer to make but well worth it!)
86 x 122gr Flat nose Wheel weight air cooled sized with gas checked & using beaver grease lube.

I can gas check, lube and size the the 91gr projectiles if you like, how does 25 plus postage sound per 100

    Toby,

simply put a gas check is a small shallow cup that sits at the base of the projectile.

It does a couple of things

It provides a uniform base to the projectile, as you can imagine if the base is not unifomed, accuracy is an issue, It also removes lead in the barrel, as a round is fired some leading may occur, the gas check helps to remove an excess lead OR keep the barrel at a uniformed state, meaning the barrel is restored to the same state after each time you fire, again aiding consistancy. it protects the base of the lead projectile from any gas cutting from any poor fitting bores.

the diagram shows on the left a Gas Check i make (from lithographic plate) and on the right a gas check for the 30cals (303 incl) and 25 cal Gas Check

the projectile in the image show one without a gas check and the other with and some lube,

    Hope that helps
