Why dont you just use the small rifle?
Not trying to be a smart arse or anything. I only use small rifle for pistol and 223. Works well.

Yup. Small rifle for everything that takes a small rifle primer.
    9mm and 40 S&W eat them.

Hadnt heard that one. I thought just different burn rate and "burn splatter"/heat.

    Just push them in harder.

All good for me though, small rifle and N320 on the pistol loads.

Rifle primers have a harder shell than the pistol primers. For a sluggish firing pin strike, they may not fire.
That's what I have been told anyway.
But from what people say here, that may not be the case.

The dimensions of both are identical, the cup material is just a bit stronger to provide safety at rifle pressures in small rifle thats all.

FWIW I only ever used Small pistol primers in my revolver, everything else got Small rifle.
Revolvers we sometimes a little picky (weaker hammer springs)??
