    Thomas Bland Sidelock 12g

Thomas Bland Sidelock extractor 12 bore, excellent usable classic.

Very good quality damascus barrels, choked roughly 1/4 and 3/4. Bores excellent, minor pitting in chamber. Chambered for 2 3/4 shells

Fine scroll engraving everywhere, top quality. Some minor pitting on action, from what looks like sitting in a case for years for at least some of its 120 years on the planet.

Locks up tight, no play at all. All screw heads, top lever etc. recut and reblued at some stage.

Nice plain but strong and straight grained stock through the wrist, headed up well. Stock measurements are 14.5 inch length of pull, 1.5 inch drop at nose, 2 inch drop at heel. Neutral cast, suit a lefty or righty. Checkering nice and crisp.

Original oak and leather case, and cleaning rod with various attachments. Has some obscure writing on it with names of previous owners from the 40s. The lid is initialed on the outside with "J.F.W.P"

A great sunny Sunday quail and rooster gun, usable with modern ammo. In fantastic working order, but not so pristine that you'd feel bad shooting it.
$2200 on here before it goes to trademe.

For those that phoo phoo Damascus barrels and say there unsafe (you usually see this on American sites) not true Iíve seen a lot still keeping up with your latest shotguns here in the UK out in the field.
Iíd not shoot steel through it but so long as itís on the faces and barrel wall thickness is good keep them going.
You donít see many now with the case as well!
As I said above thatís a very good price! Hereís one in the uk for sale no case and not as nice IMO https://www.guntrader.uk/guns/shotgu...90303162648006
    Good luck with the sale

Thanks Sideshow. Your example is not as highly finished as this one, hopefully good buying for someone. I too love the disparaging talk about Damascus, makes for good buying for those that know what they're looking at!
