Question Thoughts on classified firearms website? Thoughts?

Been talking to the owner of the airsoft classified website, he said he could be interested in making a classified website for our firearms if there was enough interest from the community.

So my question is, do you think there is a place for such a site for our community?

Are we happy to have all classifieds here and other forums, or perhaps majority on one website?

Whilst we still have the auction options like gunstuff and tardme..

The site would be free to use, have private messaging functionality and a feedback system.

Effectively would be a real steel version of what his airsoft site currently is (and would include categorys for E/B/C), which can be seen here: AirsoftTrader – New Zealands Airsoft Trading Site

    Please share your thoughts!

    Thanks

    EDIT:
    I retarded my title

The good thing about this site is it is already:

    free to use.
    has private messaging functionality.
    has a feedback system.
    doesn't have airsoft gear.

I'd argue it doesn't have a feedback system, because it doesn't.
Also, this is a specific forum and would have less visitors than a dedicated website.
There's no categories, no filters, no thumbnail pictures etc.
It's a forum and is limited because of that.
The site would be separate from the airsoft site, not sure how you figured they'd be combined, it is merely an example of the persons current site.

Every post we make gives insight into ones character and therefore provides plenty of feedback.

Not everyone wants to talk shit and trade.

Some people just want to trade, that's what the site can accommodate as well has providing (real) trade feedback.

Thank you for your input regardless.

Nothing is wrong with gunstuff, besides it hasn't kept up with the 21st century.

    Difference will be;

    1. It's free to advertise.
    2. Classifieds instead of auctions.

A fair bit of stuff is hard to price in our small market so auctions can be useful to let the market decide. Esp with the E,B,C stuff.
I think removing the option may be limiting.

But yes gunstuff needs an upgrade, its a bit 90s.

And if you wanted replies only from people who agreed with you maybe you should have stated that and not asked for 'thoughts' cause you clearly dont want them based on your snarky defensive responses.
Yes Im tired and grumpy but it seems thats ok.

Just had a look at the airsoft site. It definitely does have advantages - namely thumbnails and feedback.
I can see me using it, but listing here as well. At least until it get to a size where it is worth the effort.

For a dedicated firearms trading site, I would like to see better site security. I'm paranoid like that. At least secured with a SSL certificate. Don't want a repeat performance of the whole Hunting and Fishing F'up.

Gunstuff needs a mobile friendly upgrade. I very rarely read the forums from a computer. I Use Tapatalk from my phone

There's really nothing to disagree with me on.
I'm not saying there is a place for the site, I'm merely gauging interest for the good of the firearms community, I gain nothing myself.
I only disagreed with his sentiment that this forum has a feedback system and explained the limitations of this forum that a dedicated website would not have.
Also reiterated that the airsoft site would be separate.
If that came across snarky or defensive, my apologies

Right, obviously security is a big thing when it comes to firearms.
What is it that you would like to remain secure exactly?
Because things like your address would not be required to sign up like tradme.
You could possibly post your phone number on the ad if you pleased, but wouldn't be necessary thanks to the private messaging feature.

Native mobile support would be extremely important, agreed, this is also something that would without a doubt be offered.

All traffic to the site can be reasonably easily intercepted if it is not encrypted. So if you entered your address, bank account details etc into a PM it could be read by someone who should not have this information.
Similarly, all of the information at rest needs to be secured. Just because it's a Private Message, does not mean it's not stored in plain text in a Database somewhere.

I have some opinions and questions.
    1. Whats air soft?
    2. We can place feedback here, like, fuck of buzz that sakos too cheap, or piss off dick you wont get 500 for a savage.
    3. The last thing i want here and remember this is only my opinion, is an AR parts dealership, that has to be my biggest pet hate from trademe.

    Anyway. Hows em silver ferns

I think airsoft is a type of spudgun of some sort, kinda, like, maybe.
If you can just be yourself,
    You can be anything.
