Yes, Gonetropo did have a sawn-off rocket ship MR2 but a bit on the small side for my body! I had an 84 Corolla many years ago that was a magnificent wee car. It never let me down and had over 500,000 K's on it when I sold it.

There are plenty of other Toyota commuter car variants around these days.. Just bought a little Toyota ist 1.5 for town work and its a wee gem. Does everything well and surprisingly good on open road too. Four speed auto and not CVT. Ist, Yaris etc - a few models out there.

True, but she must have learnt from it as she now says it much more often, especially when we had the Corvette!

I just bought another Pulsar. 2005 model, 88k kms for 5.5k. My last is on 300k and still humming. The one I had before did over 300 too. I always call them a Corolla minus $3,000......

My daughter has a late 2004 manual, same motor as the forrester I think, nearly 2liter. It is unbelievably economic, blows a puff of smoke on start-up, but I dont see why it wont do another 50k with regular oil-changes. It's also very nice to drive, if the one your looking at has a good engine etc. I wouldnt hesitate.

Forgot to mention its done 350k, and last owner didnt service it properly. I figure a well-serviced one(that doesnt blow-smoke on start-up) should easily get 500k
