Walther Model 1 .22 rifle parts

This is an extremely long shot, but....

Does anyone have or know where Walther Model 1 .22 rifle parts can be sourced from? I am specifically after the firing pin.

They seem to have a habit of breaking (my dad had one that broke a pin, and the clever bugger manufactured a replacement. Pity heís not with us any more, or I would have asked him to rinse and repeat.

I have managed to mock one up in mild steel, but am stumped on the hardening process. There seems to be so many ways of doing it.

So Iím taking the easy way out first, and seeing whatís out there.

    Cheers

Hiya. Thanks but that is for the pistol. I will try the links in that post, but if they are stateside it is impossible to get them to export the parts to NZ....

There is a thread from last week or so about a product called cherry red (I think). In the old days I did it a couple of times with a product called kasenit, but because it is pretty toxic when used it isn't really available anymore.
Think it was available from George henry's.
I remember doing a project at trade school where we made some parallel bars and case hardened them by cooking them in charcoal. That might work but don't know how to do the calcs to make it work properly
your biggest issue is it bending when you heat and cool it.
maybe find something with some carbon already in it like a knife or saw blade. Still should be soft enough to work with.
Then you only have to harden/temper it correctly.
