    Winchester 1892

    Selling on behalf.

    Quite a rare old rifle.
Manufactured in 1898 (looked up serial no.)
    Calibre 25/20
    Lever action
    Full length mag
    Fully original
Stock has seen some oil is
Lovely octagagonal barrel. Original peep sights intact.
    Still fully funcional.
Appears only to bemissing one small screw in the tang area.
    Rifling is still intact.
I wont stipulate bore condition as this rifle is 118 years old.
Has LH 20 lightly carved into stock at some point.
Condition wise certainly not new this is an ollllldddd rifle and have no idea how to properly describe or compare condition as I have never seen others..
It was found by my neighbour under the floor of a station managers house in the Northern Territory in the 80s I believe and has been in his care since.

    $1000 ono

    @deepsouthaussie

    Very nice

I have one made in 1910 with a round barrel and a button magazine.

    I still shoot it today.

They are beautiful rifles that's for sure.

    Good luck with your sale.

    Cheers

    Your price is too high

The Rifle in itself is not rare or special.Common Caliber, unstated bore condition, missing part,"customised stock",

Sight unseen I would offer you 400 use it as a parts gun or get it re-lined
    Decent bore 600

Those are high end private prices in my opinion.

Last one I bought was a 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine with some original finnish, decent bore, doccumented history complete Carbine for 850
One before was a 1892 Rifle in much the same condition as the Carbine, with excellent bore and some finnish remaining 700.

Tend to agree, it'd have to be in exceptional condition to justify $1000 in that chambering

Looks like it might have been "tarted up" with a fast and nasty bluing job. The pitting on the sides of the action are blued. Also the bluing would have been thin to non existant on the lever, muzzle, hammer, tang,as well as the loading gate and the top of the barrel. Give the bore a good clean, bend a business card into the action behind the chamber and have a helper shine a light onto the card. If the bore is mint or at least usable tgen it increases the value somewhat.

The bore is still ok and it still shoots good. There are some pits im told but the rifling is still clearly visible. And a projectile fits snuggly.into the muzzle.

The stocks had some oil which was more maintance im told rather than customizing...
Blueing not 100% certain it hasnt been redone. But haasnt been done by him in the last 35years.....

but honestly if you have a 100+ year old rifle without a pit in the barrel and mint condition youre looking in the multiple thousands from what Ive seen.. They just dont exsist.

Spoke with owner and he will go to $800 firm.

He may also have a 30/30 if anyone is keen.

100 year old Rifles without pitting and in mint condition do exist, sometimes for sensible money.

The blueing was redone, how else can you explain the "W" scratched into the Tang and the "design"on the receiver top forward of the ejection port being blued?....

I wish you all the best with the sale, thank you for posting pictures.

Didn't think the 92 ever came out in 30/30, it was what the 94 was made for.
