    Winchester 1892 Sporting Rifle 44-40

Having to sell off my collection to fund house extensions. This 1892 was manufactured in 1913. It is a good shooter and has been used for silhouette shooting. The bore is very good, the action lock up is very tight. The wood-metal fit is also very good. The wood is reasonable, the expected knocks but no major issues. The original varnish has worn through in places. The metal has a nice patina to it. Some historic minor pitting to the barrel exterior. Looks to have been recrowned with a flat crown at some point. Not a museum piece but a very able shooter. Also comes with a period leather rifle scabbard.
    $1100 firm (at this stage).

    That's lovely.

Would go very well next to my .38-40 that's about the same age... but have to think of luxuries like food and the mortgage first I'm afraid!

Tell me about it. We’ve got architect and engineering bills to pay for our extensions, but bank finance is being held up on a few conditions, so I have to sell guns to tie us over. Absolutely gutting, but I don’t have any other non-essentials of value to sell.

Yeah, went through that last year and a second wave of thinning the gun cabinet might still have to happen at some point. Not nice but needs must and all! Best of luck and hope someone who'll appreciate her snaps her up!
