    Winchester 94ae Trapper in 45lc

Hi all, I'm selling on behalf of an elderly friend, his "as new" unfired Winchester 94ae, it's a trapper model and is chambered in 45 long colt 6+1. Haven't got a clue what it's worth but it is unfired brand new condition, has been stored oiled in his safe for around 20 years, no rust or marks.

Thinking around $1500 ono pick up is in taupo but I can get it to Auckland mid next month.

Only picture of it I can get until the 6th of July.

    Cheers

I expect that price is way too high, since a new one in 30-30 was $675 in 1986 from memory. Unless the chambering makes it a collectors item.

Sold one about 8 years ago in 30-30 for around $650. But who knows now, T/M would be the place to find today's market price.

It’s a funny one that one. The 1894 is chambered and designed around the 32-40 and 30-30 family of cartridges, which are all obviously rifle cartridges. They released these 94’s for a limited time in pistol chamberings (44mag, 45LC and 357mag from memory) as they no longer made the 1892, which was the lever chambered for pistol length cartridges, and was lighter and more compact.
So basically an 1892 with none of the benefits. What does make these 1894’s worth something is that they were produced in a more limited run than their 30-30 counterparts, so more of a quirky rifle for the collector than anything else.

It's still a common round. Most shop will stock it

It’s available in most shops, and if they don’t have it they’ll order. The issue is the factory loadings are all rather limp, they’re made to be safe in old Colt Peacemakers. If you want to hunt with it, you’d best be into reloading.

Gunworks stock ammo for it..50 round packs ,as others have said its at "cowboy load" levels as designed for that short range type of shooting...works great as a bail load and is reasonably quiet.
