    WTB: 45/70 rifle.

Before I go and order one does anyone have a 45/70 rifle that they want to sell.
Was looking at an H&R Handi rifle but would consider others if someone has one to sell.

Ideally only want to spend up to about $700ish but would consider others if offered.

Check out the Baikal 45/70 double rifle at reloaders. It is more like $1200 - $1300, but would be great fun.

The baikals are awesome, the look on people's face at the range as you let rip rocks.
A H&R with a can and sub + supper loads would probably be cheeper and more practical

Yeah I've seen them. I think if I was going to spend that much I would look to buy a sharps or something similar. I prefer the older rifles. But they are a little out of my price range but still on my list of stuff I want to buy.

But they would be great fun. Would love to have a double barrel rifle

I agree. The H&R is $590 and the can would be about $400ish. Will get a can for it one day.
Just testing the water to see if anyone had one to sell before buying a new one.
I would like a lever action but they cost heaps more.

I also have a Sharps 45/70, not recommended unless just shooting targets, big heavy hex barrel not some thing you'd carry far!

I know. There is one in the Upper Hutt gun shop and it surely doesn't look light. But have always wanted one. Much like a spencer rifle and rifles like that. But don't have the money to buy one.

Quite possibly but will cost about the same to barrel an action as a new rifle

@Maca49. How much are you after for it. I'm guessing its black powder only
