    WTB Binos - entry level

Got your first ever pair of dusty old Binos laying around un-loved in the back of the garage? I'd like to put them to use..

I've got probably max $200-$250 to spend so looking for mates rates. I have no binos what so ever (assuming that two toilet rolls put together doesn't count) so anything considered.

Ebay.com had bushnell H2O 10x 42 binos for $131 USD not that long ago.

Comb through ebay and you will find some under $200 NZD easy.

remind me next walk, you can have a look thru Nikon Monarch 10x42

not zeiss, leica or swaro, but for the money, excellent value for money

10x40 or 10x42 is a good size, i'd go for roof prism design, rather than poro prism (smaller & lighter)

if you buy 2nd hand, take them outside and look at a crisp edge, something like a the edge of a white building. more the edge to the sides of the view, and check for distortion etc.

The Nikon binos are very clear to look through, far better quality than the bushnells, and are great value for the money.
