    WTB - bush bitch

    Morning all,

So i wanted to find a nice cheap rifle for my brother to buy.

He is new to hunting and is in the process of applying for his FAL.

Been looking around and his budget is abit limited,

Looking at the following Remmington 770, Remmington ADL, Marlin X7. so about the $700 to $800 mark either with no scope or a pretty shitty one. Going to hit the local gun shop this weekend to see what fits/feels good

Does anyone have something lying around that they would like to sell? Given budget constraints it could be hard, we would like stainless/synthetic with a scope on, cheap ammo .243 or something?

To be honest if the price is right and wood/blued came up we would consider it..

Im sure you lot must have something in a dark corner of the safe you might consider parting with...

I had not read good things about the 770, ive never even seen one in the flesh,

Howa 1500 ... .223 7/08 or 308 $950 from gun works (cant afford to get him the $1200 package with a supressor)

What is everyones thoughts around calibre (yes everyone just sighed someone asked the question again) but i dont want him to develop a twitch as he is new to firearms/shooting, so i was thinking something smaller but with enough grunt to bowl over a red..

    222-50?

243-260-708 If he doesn't like recoil 243 as its good and versatile

770 works, Its no 700, not as smooth as many but functions and is cheap... wont get much when you sell it either but if the budget is tight...

Marlin Howa and Savage etc are fine, hold them and find whats comfortable for him

I recently got the kids a marlin 223 and they love it and I'm impressed with how it shoots, prefer a rifle with a hinged floor plate but that adds weight

Fishing ... Hunting its all good

Nice rifle, what sort of weight is it? he has been using my tikka and finds it to be reasnoble... what price would you do with no scope? Ill get him to look at the auction and see if he like it (apparently the way a rifle looks makes him cooler ...?) feel free to PM me if you would like

haha i have personally looked at plenty of .303's for him they are solid well working rifles but i think he has an image issue, he likes nice modern looking rifles... im not sure looking cool is going to make him shoot any better

No but a good trigger will, and many of the other things modern rifles have over the old 3 naught 3

I have old rifles that are fun to use but if I want to do good kill shots they are not my go to rifles
