    WTB - hardwood offcut

After a piece of hardwood to finish off a axe restoration project, just have not found anything for the handle yet.
Need about a 1mtr piece - 4x2" would be ok, 4x4" would be perfect.

    cheers

Yeah would probably go alright - just getting big enough piece is the issue...

@7mmsaum, I am always after off cuts of pieces of native for trophies and bases... would you have one or two pieces you can spare?

    Sorry for the hijack, javelin

    Awesome, thanks 7mmsaum.

I was lucky enough to pick up some kaikawaka off a forum member and I have all but run out or my nice rimu. Be good to have some not so common native wood to use for trophies.

Just a thought, what timber did Maori boys use historically for their adze handles and Patu ? Would be quite cool to use something with a bit of Kiwi tradition. I thought Rata or Fushia .

you want some sort of timber that splinters ,not breaks cleanly. pohutakawa and rata are good.
