Thread: WTB Medium sized safe

Hi people. Does anyone have a med sized safe for sale?? Have to have one now for your ammo, bolts, reloading gear etc.

Cheap is good. Even something that I could modify would be ok.

Just the combustable stuff. Needs to be segregated though

I keep all my reloading gear locked up, but as far as I am aware there is no requirement to do it.

I have been told that this is now part of the safe inspection etc. Kind of makes sense that you cant have ammo laying about, neither should you have the ability to make them laying about either i spose.

Need to show F/A licence to purchase powder or primers now too

fal for powder has been around for a little while now. I got some primers via online and courier in the last couple of days....no request for license for them from the dealer.

re inspection ; is it legislation or the local arms officer's interpretation?

Nah, not a legal requirement (which it should be imo). GC have on their website they want to see your FAL when buying powder, but when you go in the staff don't even bother.

something that has always bugged me .......we have to present our FAL to buy powder but for 3 days a year any moron or reprobate can purchase a shit ton of powder (in the form of fireworks ) no questions asked.....and as far a safety is concerned a bottle of 2208 on a shelf in a gunroom is less dangerous (to minors) than a box full of fireworks sitting on the kitchen shelf

For my second safe (for bolts and ammunition) I bought one of the yellow website, I think it’s about 50cm tall and 30cm wide and maybe 30 deep, cost about $90 from memory a few years ago.

Can someone give the link to any legislation or regulation that requires primers and powder to be stored in a safe?

Once combined with a case and a projectile they need to be kept securely - but even that hasn't had to be in a safe.

I use a safe and lock boxes for ammunition, but not for powder or primers.

Other legislation requires no more that 15 kg of powder in any outbuilding (and not your attached garage).
I sometimes have 30+ kg of powder spread between locked outbuildings.
