Guess I should look into the costs of a round per reload before rushing into anything ? but I was thinking if all I needed to buy was a press ,powder, wads, lead and primers(as have access ample shell "hulls") and just my time

I know reloading 9mm saves me an arm and a leg .. the amount I shoot through pistol and carbine

Also plan on registering my shotty as E cat in the next week or so ,so with a mag extension ill be sure to be shooting even more

Do people cast their own shot? Or are there shotgun clubs with a tower each?

I reload shot gun in all gauges I have, or had, 10,12,16,20, 28. gauge.
For trap loads, it likely works out about the same price, for 12 and 20ga,
although there is the added satisfaction, of shooting a good round with you own ammo, and you can tailor, a specialty load, for other uses, with different shot or spreader loads for skeet.
16, 28 ga and 410 are much cheaper, to load for, that buy ammo.
I agree, about the adjustable charge bar, and get a mec press,
6mm Ackley's press above, would be a great place to start,

think the best reason to reload 12g is for 3 gun so you can cast and load your own slugs. Otherwise everyone I knew who shot 3 gun brought their trap loads as was less time consuming more than anything else

    Hi Seano.
I get all my shot gun reloading stuff from Brian.
Lead Shot "EAGLE" Brand | Trade Me
    Check out his other listings.

Great to deal with and I have not found cheaper.

I have a MEC Sizemaster here with a whole bunch of gear for it. Powder bars, extra bottles etc.
Dad use to shoot skeet and heaps of bird hunting. He wants it sold.

Can put up pictures and description of what's there if you're interested.

Do you "tune a load, or round" like you would a Centre fire hand load?
Or is it just a cost saving?

I know Andy at Shooters supplies in Riccaton had some Mecs a while back and he had some of the bits and bobs for loading there as well.

You can a certain amount, but for most users these days it's just for specialty ammo at an affordable price.
Eg subsonic ammo, buckshot, slugs, short rounds

If it's cost related for clay target stuff hardly worth it. It is possible to cut the cost a bit by using pickup wads but shots about 15 -19 c and primers 7-10. You can get trap ammo for around 30-34c . Now solids thats where the gains are get a lee slug mould and away you go.
