    WTB: sub $1000 LR scope

Hi all, I'm tentatively looking for a scope to put on my Howa 6.5x55 to do a bit of LR shooting. Max budget is $1000, possibly a bit more if somebody has a great deal. I'm leaning toward one of the Viper models, but open to something equivalent.

    What's out there?

    sightron s3 6-24-50 ffp | Trade Me

Would be worth the $200 extra over the other scope. FFP and has MOA turrents and MOA reticle.

    I have 2 S111 sightrons both MOA matching ret/turrets 6-24x50 good condition
I'd let one go for 1200.

Are they any good ? This side of 3k I think they are great.

    This is all sightron s111

Some great footage there Dr. Watson... What Cal are you using...

Interested to know more about these scopes, new to this long range stuff, but wanting to learn, need a better understanding of scope type and usage...

    Cheers Craig

You are either clicking or "reticuling".
Once you got the scope, you got to buy the rangefinder that goes with it unless you shoot at set distances...

I've got a 4.5-14x42 Burris C4 that reliably dials out to 21MOA (1,000m, haven't tried further) and back to zero without any problems. Have shot deer over 600m and even the odd hare around the 700 yard mark.

This cost me NZ$415 while on a trip to the US for work. Humping and Fishing sell them for $700-800 here, but can still be purchased and shipped ex US from some retailers.
