Cans on 338s are rather average I've found.

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

Yeah I was hoping to get an ase utra through @Spanners but with his work load I'm not sure of time frame so looking for something in the interim. Our shooting range has changed and don't want to piss the neighbours off and have it shut down.
@BRADS what one have you had experience with?

You could always wrap a mattress around the end of the barrel Nibblet. That ought to reduce the noise and give you something to doze on between shoots. Ha ha ha ha
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Both Dan cans one early model one latter. One on an edge and on a lapua, I then learnt about good brakes the rest is history
As Andy said he likes his so some people like them, you sure will notice the extra wallop when you swap your brake for a can.

Cheers BRADS, when you say 'average' what are you refering to specifically? Made groups worse, no real reduction in sound or just the fact it made the shoulder feel it a bit more?
Don't spose you have them lying round gathering dust still for me to give a crack?

I really mean average all round
Bugger all recoil reduction, makes a long barrel even longer/heavier and you still need earmuffs and have lost the ability two spot your own shots which is probably the most important
Just my view mate.....cans have there place it's just not on a lapua

Fair enough mate, thanks for the input and as your someone who has owned some big bangers I really appreciate it.

Will hold off and see how we go with noise but would be a shame to loose our range, your farm is too far for me to drive to each weekend.
