WTB Winchester M70 Extreme Weather in 308

I have decided that to round out my rifle collection I need to build a bush pig. I want something a little different than the dime a dozen T3's and Rem700's that most pigs are built from. So, I'm looking for a M70 extreme weather in 308, secondhand, or maybe someone can point me in the right direction to find a new one, keep in mind I am an impatient time-poor bastard so I don't do "oh ask so and so to bring you one in on their next order, and then sit around waiting for 18 months"
    Cheers

How about a M70 in 444 marlin? That's something different and it's available straight away from my safe.
    With rings, ammo and dies.

Yes and yes, will be chopping it right back at 15-16" so heaps of meat there
I had one in 270 and it was a beautiful rifle to use

All good, just thought there might be an issue trying to cut thread in the flutes.

Why does everyone cut the front off to make one of these? Why not do a bullpup, keep the barrel length and velocity so its still good for long stuff as well.

Because you can buy a rifle and chop the barrel off, whack on a can and good to go. Velocity is not a concern as these rifles are usually intended to be shot at shorter range. Hell of a lot cheaper than bullpupping one

And bullpups are tacti-coool as shit....

And binning 8 or 9 inches of barrel is a good weight saving

Been thinking about doing same thing, my options were savage lightweight .308 with the wooden stock, cerocoated to look like its stainless, 16in bbl etc, or kimber Montana

Dont waste your time chasing every last fps, it doesnt matter in the real world, it wont make a difference, all it will do is cause head aches and frustrations. And dont listen to silly old cunts

I have seen it, sitting just above your weatherby on the rack.... don't need (can't afford) another 270 unless you wanna shoot yourself in the foot and straight swap for a t3 270 haha

Kimber LPT .308 on gunstuff pretty similar to the M70, not sure if the action's as smooth as the Winchester though

Seen as I have a M70 EW in .264 win and had one in 270 WSM, they are think and chunky in fore stock and wrist, Not slim and narrow like a Winchester featherweight stock, the Winchester clones, Kimber, Montana etc are all a bit lighter and slimer stocked.
I have been keeping an eye out, for a featherweight stainless in 308 for a while, likely even harder to find that a Extreme weather.
Good luck, there in big demand in the states, and few are making it to export.

Obviously there are lighter options. The LPT is 1.25 pounds heavier than the M70 ew, so far less suitable
