    Cheers for all the advise. Thinking I just chop it to 17.5 inches. Seen another thread somewhere that discussed having success with this length in 243. Think with this length and decent quality factory ammo I will still shot effectively to 200-300m. Thoughts on this?

    16/17” is a real nice length for tikkas and will for fine as others have said

    Sounds like a good compromise to me, checking in GRT for my 100gn 243 load, speed drops from 2860fps in 22" barrel to 2700fps in 17.5" barrel, still plenty of energy there...

    Like Gimp said, will be fine. I've an 18 inch Tikka. Shoots 90g NBTs and 90g ELDX at around 2,950fps, same point of impact, mild'ish load of 2209. Comfortable shooting reds out to 400m if conditions are right.
