Any one know min length for .17 barrel? Thinking shorter less weight etc. Mines a bull barrel fluted marlin and weighs around 15 tons but is very accurate as well

Mines a CZ but weighs the same and I'm to scared to flute it, thought I might just turn it down in the lathe! But cutting it down with a suppressor sounds good
Fitted VX3 today and the midget smoked a myna bird at 145 while sighting it in. It's not one they ll fly away from but too heavy
there has been quite a bit of research done overseas on the optimum length for a .17HMR barrel and it is supposedly 20"
Iv just shortened and threaded mine at 18.5 inch. A few people overseas chopped and chronyed each inch less from 22 down. At 19 the speed was at its highest with the least difference between shots for an average mean speed
Mine still shoots about half inch at a 100m if the shooter is on form.
Barrel on the CZ is about 19.5"
