Well... if you figure out approximate flight time then the amount of drift per second the 22lr is actually the best. i.e. if you looked purely at drift over an equal flight time in The 40gr 22WMR is worst and the 17hmr comes 3rd. For a 1 second flight the 17hmr is going to drift 45% more than the 22lr. So technically speaking the 17 does drift excessively, but that is mitigated by less flight time.Quote:

Steyr zephyr , 19 inch barrel, cci vmax @100 yds. I thought 20 rds but 19 recorded on the labradar so either it missed one or I short loaded a mag at some stage. There was a little to much air movement but it is representative of conditions Id shoot in and fair for this shooter rifle combination on the day and is what id expect generally. The velocity es is pretty good on average with 3 outliers, one highish and two low. Are there worse still in the box? possibly. Attachment 273836

With the 17gr Vmax my SD was 38
Interesting results with the .17 in this thread. It mirrors the 20-30 shot groups I get with my 22 magnum - and we were always told that 17hmr is more accurate.
The .17 is just a ramset case with a bullet pushed into it so you cant expect too much :)Quote:

Next, 15 shots fired quite rapidly at 75 yards (top group). 1.505" After this group I remembered it was a 3-9 scope - I had been using 4x that it was set on. So I adjusted the scope down, set the scope on 9 and fired 5 careful shots at 100 yards. A right to left breeze had sprung up. .815"

Interestingly, when I wound the scope down to get it back onto its 100 yard zero the dial aligned at its zero setting again - back to where it should have been. I can only guess that someone had had a fiddle with it - it has been loaned out.
The TBolt is a neat little gun. Barrel uncut and a little muzzle forward suppressor
