With my swaro s5 I need to run a 20moa base wats the best way to do it will the Burris inserts fit in optilocks cheers
i looked at but the Burris inserts did not fit. They are quite different - sadly. I just ended up putting a 11 thou shim under the rear optilok and that worked out pretty close to 20 moa.
I used optilock bases and rings, not the one piece ring mount, mounting a Z5.
I had 0.024" milled off the front mount.
It roughly equates to 20 moa, depending on the spacing of the rings.
The optilock inserts self align.
I'll put up a picture later.
IMO it's a weak point of the Sako tapered dovetails.

Yep, just used sako two piece rings and bases, shimmed the rear scope mount and away you go.
I wouldn't call it a weak point just a consideration - good luck getting a canted rail with a specific cant whereas I can reasonably easily get a specific cant using shims...
Try getting in contact with Waitaki Engineering, had a cant put on a base on my sako and he mentioned he can put a cant on optilocks if you send them in.
Bugger I got some Burris bases and Burris rings with inserts are the any good
Leupold also make very good Sako mounts that are lighter than the overrated Optilocks.
I got my sako for the Schmidt and Bender done @Waitaki Engineering
Works perfectly.
Dunno what adjustment you have on your swaro, but a lot of flat shooting calibres may not even need a 20moa rail depending on the distance you want to shoot.
failing that you can get the receiver drilled at tapped by a gunsmith and then get them to supply a milled down rail, or try this
Roedale Precision WebShop
The NEAR manufacturing sako rail that mounts onto your dovetail no drilling or tapping etc required are great
wicked service from Canada to my door in under a week :)
Near Manufacturing - Rifle Scope Bases
Waitaki rails sit on top of the dovetails, raising scope mount height unnecessarily, requiring the receiver to be drilled and tapped... I couldn't be arsed with that....
The Roedale mounts dont review well, though they slide onto the dovetails and don't raise the the scope as much as a Waitaki rail...they have a sliding adjustment to size for different Sako 75 and 85 actions....
The NearMfg rails are 10MOA, they slide onto the dovetails with a friction fit and have an integral recoil lug that fits into the recess on the rear dovetail. They are sized to the action....
I had a good selection of optilocks on hand and chose to machine the front base down to mount my Z5 on a 75 V action.
The Z5 and Diavari didn't have the same huge internal adjustment as my PMII, so I reckon the slight nose down cant keeps the scope in the middle of its internal adjustment rather than possibly bottoming out.

Optilock front base machined down to give approx 20moa cant

The tapered dovetails may not be a weakness, but they complicate matters such as this

Yep, the plastic inserts are good but I lap those rings that don't use inserts and never get ring marks.
I like the low Leupold rings for scopes that have a smaller front objective and the medium Leupold rings for larger objectives. Light and strong, never had an issue with them and one pair on an older Sako Forester has never moved in twenty seven years.
Apart from being expensive and heavy the Optilocks are pushed hard by retail salesmen from the likes of H&F, Gun City etc because they either don't know any better or they're going to make more profit.
I use them on a few rifles a couple of F class rifles put a 20 thou off set in both and you have heaps of elevation depending on scope brand you may not be able to get a 100 metre zero, they are also good for correcting
miss alignment in the mounting holes in the receiver Remingtons are known for it,
This is the best i can do at the moment, havent a real close up I can find
