@dombo3 any more updates on this rig? ive been pondering a similar setup.
What bolt face did you start with , and what barrel did you go for?
Cheers
Started with Tikka 223 and 20” barrel from trueflite 1 in 7 twist. Bolt face opened up.
Jaco did the work. Recommended.
Done some load development:

Pros
Extra velocity over 223 - although gimp’s setup comes close
Seat the longer projectiles out further cf 223
Recoil is very light
Cons
Grendel/ARC Magazines limited options in AICS
Brass not so readily available cf 223
Tikka is effectively long action so not perfect donor but I’m happy with it
Have not been for a hunt yet. One next month. 80g eld-x load will be my go to.
Tahr went with the 22 creedmoor. Standard bolt face, more magazine options. More velocity.
Nice to have options.
Thanks, great write up on the load dev too, looks likes it not fussy. (I just tried some of the ELD-VTs on goats yesterday in the 223. All Bang flops out to 300m, seems to be a pretty effective projectile).
The 22 Creedmore looks like the easy option, but my short bit of research tells me Compared to 223, the CM uses double the powder, vs about 25% for the Arc. That plus Barrel life makes me think the CM might get a bit uneconimical if shooting a lot. It does look like it would be a very fun cartridge to shoot tho

Just brought a savage m16 action to do an 22arc.
Looking at a 24"barrel as loading data for that length. Just a range toy, maybe goats if get the chance . Can't wait to get it running, jaco will do the work on it.....
I've got a brand spanking new Krieger 1/8 sitting on the shelf, waiting to become a 22 Creedmoor.(varmint contour)
