    22 for possum shooting

Hi all, I'm heading up to my in laws farm this weekend for a bit of R&R plus there are apparently a shit load of possums around and they are jumping onto the roof at night so need to go. I have two questions.

I am going to purchase a 22 today and will likely get the Ruger 10/22 as I have owned one before and think they are excellent rifles. I was going to get one of the Blued/Synthetic ones from Gun Shitty. They are $449.00 starting but I wan't one with a can also so they are $599 at the moment with a "Heavy Duty Hushpower Silencer"

    Questions.

    1) Is there anyway cheaper I can look for a Ruger 10/22 that is in stock in AKL. Needs to be threaded also with a Silencer.
    2) I was looking to get a led Lenser P7.2 torch for spotting. Will this be enough?

    Cheers,
    Brad

    Norinco JW15A Synthetic 22lr - Bolt Action 22LR - 22 Long Rifle - Rimfire - Reloaders Supplies Ltd

FYI if it's just a $$ thing, there's a JW15 $289 incl basic scope and basic suppressor. Torch wise for basic spotting pretty much anything would work ok.

Hey @Kscott. Cheers for your reply. I'm happy spending the $599.00 for the Ruger package but just wondered if that package was available elsewhere for a better price (Means I can sped the difference on ammo ). Gun City prices are always a bit higher but they seem to have ok pricing on their Ruger 10/22's. Cool will look to get the 7.2 with mount.

Check out Serious Shooters too who are 100m up the road from GunCity, sometimes they can have a special.

    Possums

There is this option ,trap and pluck, you will get more than you will shooting and it can pay for all the little 10/22's extra's.
By the way you don't need a 10/22 for possum work, justifying theses thing's to the wife or yourself, been there done that.

Ended up with the Ruger 10/22 with 3-9 scope and a hushpower silencer.

Yeah that'll do it, the possums will still take an extreme dislike to you

hehe. Apparently this hushpower silencer with Subsonics is amazing. All you can apparently here is the receiver slap. I will get the Long life polymer stopper as well. If I had of known it was only $8.50 I would have picked one up while I was there. Apparently with this fitted it is super quiet.

Yep I have the same 10/22 setup but in s/s, nice and quiet. I use CCI Subs and the grouping is good and they cycle the action with no problems, although CCI subs can be hard to find some times.
I have found that you need to hit them a couple of time though, tough little bugger, especially the big ones.

Sighted the rifle in quickly. It's shooting extremely well. Winchester subsonics are excellent.
