    I'd be checking the bore before starting on any externals. Give it a good scrub with a brush and solvent and make sure it aint gone as rusty as the outside.

    no but I used to have a few beers with him in the old Royal hotel in Opotiki - no I say that about a fire poker out of practicality - a really top gunsmith once told me when I was trying to restore a badly worn Tikka - Barry you cannot save every rifle - so if this did need a new barrel is it worth going on ?? sometimes we must be realistic - but if the tube is good by all accounts they shot way better than they looked

    Yup I'd be making sure it still groups to start with.
    Disassemble the bolt and clean/lube it, make sure the bore is rust free then give it a run.
    No point tidying the rest if it's a dud

    Yes that's what I meant by stripped and cleaned lol I've cleaned everything and fired it goes great just no clip lol
