I have a 1:7 twist 223ai. The 60gr bullets do just fine. In fact I've just stocked up on a bunch of 60gr Nosler BT's because they shoot so well. It shoots 50gr bullets just fine too - as does my 1:7 22-250ai launching them at 4200.

It's more to do with the quality of the bullet than the twist rate of the barrel.

to be fair with an ackley fireforming isnt an issue. just run it as you would run a normal 223 for the first rounds until you get your brass formed. I rate the ackley

Some 8 twists do and some 8 twist don't shoot with 80gr plus.

I have a 7 twist 223Ai and have no troubles stabilizing up to 88gr. I haven't put anything lighter than 73gr through it yet. I dont think the 60gr ish range would do too well though.
Have you shot the factory 73s yet?

I think my 1:7 build is gonna shoot, first trip to the range (in very windy conditions, airport wind equipment about 1.5 Km from the mound showed a SW of 33 km/h so its crossing the range at about 60 degrees).

80gr? Perhaps a 243 would be more appropriate.

An 80 grn .243 bullet cant compete. Lower BC. Lower SD.
.243 can generate more velocity, which is mainly left on the table, at the expense of a teaspoon of extra powder.

I went out with a dude running an Ackley but using both 55gr and 65 gr. The term 'laser' is so apt. Anthing we put the Maxtoch on just folded. It was supremely impressive.

I ONCE owned a HK SL8 before they were banned. Its barrel twist rate was 1:7. It was one of the most accurate .223 I've ever owned, and I've has a few over the years. It would hold its own against any of my bolt action rifles. I used bullet weight from 50-69gr nothing heavier.

My son & I shot a season each of FTR with an off the shelf Savage Model 10 .223 with a 1:7 twist barrel.
Shooting 80 gr Amax (I've still got a box of 600 left) over 2208 it was almost identical ballistically to a .308 firing a 155 gr projectile.

In light winds the .223 was competitive against .308s out to 1000 yards.
In medium to heavy winds the .223 struggled past 600 yards.

Great calibre, inexpensive, no recoil => great for a beginner.
