does anyone experience the same thing, i shoot a ruger 10/22 and sw/mp 10/15, they both shoot very good with cci and aquila. but every time i took them apart for cleaning and the next time shooting on the range found the points of impact are miles out.
good point. i do clean the barrel every time as shiny as possible.
What do you mean by “take them apart”? That is probably your issue.
My target ansutchz needed about 50 rounds through it if i cleaned the barrel before it would settle down again, but it always returned to the same poi. As a result i never cleaned the barrel unless i had a squib round and i used thet greasy sticky eley 10x

I clean my barrel after e very shoot with hoppes and dry patches. The first shot is always good.
I'd say it's in the reassembly of big heavy sliding bolt and the bedding specially if it's still tip bedded could take a few shots to settle in. Not like a bolt action that quivers a little bit when you fire it, the 10/22 slam a big lump of metal back and forth into bolt buffers and stuff.

Clean the bore by all means, but fire a couple of "fouling" rounds, before you start the accuracy testing. A clean bore will shoot to a different point of impact to a dirty one.
If you don't clean a .22LR bore eventually a carbon ring will form just at the end of the chamber in the start of the leade of the lands. This will degrade accuracy and once the ring is there it's difficult to remove. The average .22LR hunter who never cleans the bore probably won't notice that accuracy has dropped off until many, many thousands of rounds have been shot. Mainly because their rifle is not particularly accurate to start with (compared to a really accurate .22LR) and also if you're rabbit shooting, how steady can the rifle be held most of the time to determine that accuracy has degraded?
Most .22LR competition shooters clean the bore after every shoot. Of course some don't and only do so after a brick or two. Never met one who never cleaned the bore though. Even so, bore cleaning can result in barrel damage if it's not done correctly. There is a lot of information on correct cleaning methods and the pitfalls of incorrect cleaning on the net. As the old saying goes, " more barrels are ruined by incorrect cleaning than not cleaning". So you should to be aware of that.
i wouldnt use aguila in any semi, its dupont powder and it leaves a filthy residue. stick with cci
Oil patch and dry patch only until accuracy can no longer be restored by the oil and dry patch method. Then you need a full clean and refoul.
Fouling seals the heeled .22 projectile as the residue from powder and wax and leadbuilds up to tighten the bore, and thusly improves consistency and accuracy.
More .22 barrels are ruined by cleaning than from shooting.
i've noticed that, it smell bad too. but the it gives moa groups for my mp15-22 in 75m with a 3 power fixed scope, i also found it slightly more power than the cci in standard v.Quote:
