@Sakoswarosorted yeah I know mate, I do love that rifle hence why I'd love to give it a new lease on life but financially you're right. I've got some 243 cases so I'll give them a crack and see how they feed, it is an older crf model so we'll see how it goes. I've tried the 110gr barnes through my other 270 and personally didn't like the results they gave me so went back to the 145gr eldx. I do really like that old ruger action so this is more an exercise in trying to fill a need/gap while bringing back an old favorite. I'll see how it feeds but as suggested a short action cartridge may be fiddly. Cheers for the input fullas

Just loaded 200 TTSX 110gr Barnes for my mates Tikka 270. Why? Because he says they destroy big Gizzie stags. You gotta stoke them. No mid way powder. Full bore always. 2C.

He's right, I ran those ttsx 110s at 3400 from memory. Hammer of Thor on some big bodied reds out too 300.

Running 145 eldx and 130 fusions. Almost same poi. Be great to have a 140 eldm... Could always do a Nathan foster on the 150 sst I guess..

.25-06 with a fast twist. 134gr ELD-M. Should get you close to .270 130gr speeds but with a better projectile.

Your kids will however start at the sharp end of shouty rifle shooting.
    Just...say...the...word
