.284Win -what action is everyone building on?

Righto, i’ve had a scratch looking for an itch for a while now and the .284win itch is getting stronger.

So .284win community what actions have you built your .284’s on?

I’d love to build it on my Sako A2 Action but not sure I can be arsed with single loading the longer bullets…

The Tikka T3 is the obvious choice but thoughts feelings controversies from the floor??

Mine was built on a T3 action, donor rifle was 708 so got a bigger bag and altered the bolt stop....

Savage short action, limited to 3.0" mag length but that's ideal for 140gn and under projectiles, fine for hunting. Heavier/longer boatails could benefit from longer length, I think you ideally want around 3.1-3.2" COL for 162gn ELDM. What are you using it for?

My first was on a BSA Hunter/Viscount medium action (7x57). Excellent but Tikka better.
My Tikka is a converted 7mm08 as above with standard mods - long action bolt stop and mag - works perfectly with single stack mag, spot on for action length, and so many options for carbon stocks etc
Just got a Kimber Montana 84L 284 - too windy to try my first loads this weekend. A modified 280AI - given it’s already got a nice long mag box seems more sensible to leave as 280AI if starting again.
Remington 700 aka @chainsaw other common conversion.

Overall hard to move on from a Tikka which is almost made for the Kiwi “long” 284 super pig

.284 would be my do all I guess. I use my 6ARC in the bush over the dog for the most part but the .284 would be for the sit and watch slips, tops etc. I’m a 400-450m max/not very often but good to have that capability up my sleeve type.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with my .308 for what I do but itch’s must be scratched…..

My Savage 284w shoots 140gn BTs at 2910fps with 20" barrel, loaded to 3.0" COL, just to give you an idea. GRT says I could go faster and still be under max. pressure, at least 2950 fps, but it was shooting sub-moa and that was good enough for me. Didn't see the point of trying to max it out.

I’ve got one built on Tikka, bought an older model in 270 & got Truflite to fit new 22in bbl 1:8.5 twist in 284win. Shoots very well. Have another built on Weatherby Mk5 Ultralight (these are all long action) was originally a 708 re-chambered to 284 by previous owner. After a few years use accuracy was dropping off so re-barrelled with Bartlein 2b Featherweight chopped to 18in. Also shoots very well. In both cases have replaced factory stocks with after market CF stocks. Have also done one using REM700 270 as donor action. They all work

I used a Tikka. Perfect action for it in my opinion. I got a longer mag, modified the bolt stop and can load 162ELD-M as long as I like with room to spare. Im getting about 2680fps from a 17.5" barrel. Makes for a pretty handy rifle that still has legs.

I'd be thinking king about a 7mm 6.5prc these days, lots of components available
