    .300 Win Mag

What ammo is everyone putting through their 300 win mags? Just brought a tikka so interested to know what others are using? Looking for ammo that is going to be consistant out to the longer ranges

Are you looking at factory offerings or do you plan to reload?

I load my ammo with 178 gr Hornady ELD X bullets but you can get Hornady Precision Hunter factory loaded with a variety of bullet weights. It is expensive but the bullet seems to work well on game near and far.

+1 back before I reloaded I found federal fusion to be really good at being consistent out to 600yds first round hits every time and ES through a chronograph consistently under 20

Yeah I shoot 178 eldx too. The 11 inch twist in the factory tikka isn't fast enough to go much heavier.

Tried the precision hunter ammo, it shot well. Around 3/4 minute

Yeah, try the Fed Fusion. In the 300 I'm loading for, it groups as well as handload ammo.
Also note what weight projectiles you want, 150gn or 180gn.

Will probably give the 180gn a go I think

The new federal premium had an sd of 5 for 6 rounds when was tried in a proof barrel and about 1/2” 3 shot group.
180gr ballistic tip the orange one in 300 win mag. A mate has shot 3 animals all instant collapse so far out to 450m

These are two of the bullets (the silver ones on the left) I found from behind the target board. In some soft clay at 100. Went through a rotten tree backstop. Stayed together good. The only other ones I found were probably eldm from my rifles and the cores were missing. So they don’t blow up.
Es will be about 10-12fps. I have it recorded somewhere I think but wasn’t my rifle. We were quite surprised. He had bought 100 rounds of it to keep some consistency. Not sure if east coast put 1 in 10 or 1 in 9 proof barrels on them.
