    6.5 - 284 or 6.5 swede

Have a new European alrounder ( be used for bunnies - red stags ) in the works, just deciding what european caliber to chose.

Swede is a great old classic but the 284 is cool & probably slightly better in a shorter tube, what do they go like in a 20" barrel ?

dont be so boring.......so many more classic cartridges to choose from.if you spending the coin on a custom jobbie, why not go the whole hog and be really different???

bunnies to red stags......sub 150 yards the list of possibles is endless, starting with hi power savage or .222 /222 rimmed and stopping at????something with rigby in the name....
    7x57...8x57 9.3 .318

you gots to narrow it down a bit more than you have bud....

The only reasons to go for a 6.5-284 over a modetn 6.5*55 are:
To attempt to shoot a stag at 700 instead of 550.
To burn out the throat faster.
    To use more powder.
    To pay more for brass.
To shoot f class or gongs at longer ranges.
Or to make a bigger bang.

I think the classic er of the two is the swede, it is time proven on game , big ones at that, and is very accurate. In the modern firearm the swede isn't that far behind the 6.5 284. My Tikka 6.5x55 is my most accurate rifle I currently own.

Yeah it's not a custom, but cool straight pull switch barrel Strasser ( been keen on one of these for a while ) They do a 6.5 RWS ( really cool ), 7 x 57 etc but was kinda just thinking something simple to just go shoot

Already have some odd ball shit, so not really worried about going down that road again

Stick to your x55. 6.5-284 will be a waist of time in 20" as mentioned....
